The objective of the School Resource Officer is to provide a safe environment for the children while on school campus. The City of Torrington currently has one School Resource Officer, Officer David Cooper, assigned to the Torrington High School. This full time position runs from September thru June during each school year.
The officer serves as a liaison between school officials and the police department providing security on school campus and serves as a mentor to children.
